Cleaning Chiles for Mole
Piņata Fiesta

WELCOME TO RANCHO ORGANICO!

We have several wonderful indigenous neighbors and love sharing with them! In the past year, we've had 2 doctors visit and offer their services to needy children and an indigenous community. Our most recent volunteers have enjoyed learning to cook our favorite "mole" from Manuela the indigenous way! Ali from England made play dough that was a big hit for all the children at Juanita's 2nd birthday party! Then we learned that Ali didn't know what a piņata was (see upper-right photo if you don't know either!)...so we invited all the neighborhood children to help us teach her for her going-away fiesta. When we picked up the Raw family (also from England), they told us that they had tasted mole in Mexico City and didn't care for it. So 2 more volunteers, Maria & Angela, asked Manuela to teach them, and even prepared a 2nd dish in case the Raw's still didn't like it. But the dish was never even served that night, and I'm sure that at least 3 people even asked for seconds!! So whether it be offering medical assistance, cooking, arts & crafts, playing games with the kids or teaching, just let us know how you would like to interact with our wonderful neighbors.
